PK92962: A second server instance might not be created successfully if a server instance already exists

Error description

• Using Rational Application Developer V7.5.3
  The creation of a second server instance may fail if a previous
  server instance was created using
  the default settings and if the user has changed the name of the
   server in the server overview.
  
  Steps to reproduce:
  1. Create a new server instance (for example for IBM Websphere A
  pplication Server v7.0)
  2. Leave the default server name (for example 'WebSphere Applica
  tion Server v7.0 at localhost')
  3. Once the server instance is created, go to the server overvie
  w and change the server name
  from 'WebSphere Application Server v7.0 at localhost' to 'MyServ
  er'
  4. Create a second server instance (again for example for IBM We
  bsphere Application Server v7.0)
  5. Leave the default name (eg 'WebSphere Application Server v7.0
   at localhost')
  Actual Result :
  The second server instance is not created.
  The existing server instance name is overridden with 'WebSphere
  Application Server v7.0 at localhost'
  (clicking on the server column in the server view will bring bac
  k the actual name of the server instance
  in our case 'MyServer').
  Expected Result:
  The second server instance to be created with the default name (
  'WebSphere Application Server v7.0 at localhost')
  without overridding the existing server instance(s)
  
  Workaround:
  When you create your server specify the server name (in step 2 a
  nd step 5).
  

Local fix

Problem summary

• The problem is caused by only the internal id field is being
  used for checking name conflict.  The fix is to also take
  the server name field into the account during creation.
  

Problem conclusion

• Fix delivered in Rational Application Server V7.5.4
