PK85817: RMC search capability of a published website in port 80 returns no result

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• This issue have been found in RMC 7.5
  
  When publishing the RMC website, the following options have been
   selected
  
  Java EE web application packaged in a WAR file
  Include search capability
  Web Application name: pal_02
  
  Once done, deploy the pal_02.war file in WebSphere.
  
  Try to do searching in the published website after deployment in
   WebSphere.
  
  The website can be accessed in http://?host?:9080/pal_02/index.h
  tm
  
  The searching capability is working well
  
  However, customer need to publish the website using port 80 and
  in different domain (virtual host), the search capability is not
   working.
  
  The host of the published RMC website is http://dev.pal.intranet
  .qbe.com/index.htm
  
  When testing the searching capability, it is not working, search
   results were returned.
  
  Workaround is to modify the content of \pal_02_war.ear\pal_02.wa
  r\theme\appSettings.js
  
  change the line
  
   theApp.settings.searchServlet='/pal_02/SearchServlet'
  
  to
  
   theApp.settings.searchServlet='/SearchServlet'
  
  Customer want this issue fix because they don't want to modify t
  he appSettings.js everytime they need to change the content of t
  he RMC published website.
  

Local fix

Problem summary

• The absolute path of search servlet  will cause problems.
  When the user changes the context root, the search script
  can not access correct servlet path.
  

Problem conclusion

• Replaced servlet absolute path with relative path in
  appSettings.js
