APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• While trying to stop an IBM HTTP Server instance via the
  WebSphere Application Server Administration Console, a
  failure is reported: "Could not make a connection to the
  IBM HTTP Administration console on..."
  
  The IBM HTTP Administration server reports a crash via
  the installRoot/logs/admin_eror.log:
  
     [Tue Apr 14 02:45:15 2009] [notice] child pid 30773
     exit signal Segmentation Fault(11)
  
  This has only been observed on SuSe Linux Enterprise Server 11,
  but could affect other operating systems.

Problem conclusion

• mod_ibm_admin was updated to more rigorously inspect stdout
  and stderr of the 'apachectl stop' output before passing
  the values on to to C library functions such as strstr().
  
  This fix is targeted for IHS fixpacks:
   - 6.0.2.37
   - 6.1.0.25
   - 7.0.0.5
