Error description

  • Rational Business Developer V7.5.1.1:

IGYPS2214-S compiler error when compiling EGL generated
COBOL program that uses floating point numbers.

IGYPS2214-S Reference-modified data item "XXX" was not defined
with either "USAGE DISPLAY" or "USAGE DISPLAY-1".
                The statement was discarded.

Local fix

  • The work around is to change the EGL code to not use floating
point numbers. The use of floating point numbers is not
recommended because the results are inaccurate on the mainframe.

Problem summary

  • The function was not checking for a numeric type being
passed as a character type to the inline function.

Problem conclusion

  • Software updated.
