Error description

• Using Rational Application Developer V7.0.0.7
  The wizard to extract xml data from a DB2 table fails and produc
  es an empty XML file and the wizard does not finish or complete
  the dialog box remains open.
  
  This occurs when a table has packed data, non-displayable ASCII
  characters.
  
  When a DB2 table has its columns as CHAR or VARCHAR it works cor
  rectly the wizard generates  the .xml with
  
  the table contents in the expected xml format eg:
  ??xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8'??
  ?SQLResult?
      ?CATEGORY NAME='BIRDS'/?
      ?CATEGORY NAME='CATS'/?
      ?CATEGORY NAME='DOGS'/?
      ?CATEGORY NAME='FISH'/?
      ?CATEGORY NAME='REPTILES'/?
  ?/SQLResult?
  

Local fix

Problem summary

• In the described scenario, an attempt to export invalid XML
  characters from a database table into an XML document
  produced an exception in the execution of the SQL to XML
  Wizard.
  

Problem conclusion

• The code in the SQL to XML wizard has been modified to
  address potential exceptions, displaying error messages to
  the user when applicable.
  
  Fix delivered in Rational Application Developer V7.0.0.9
