APAR status

Error description

  • Working in UCM, using a dynamic view to run clearfsimport on a
    large batch of files and folders (30k to 70k), the process fails
    with errors like these reported to STDERR:
    
    clearfsimport: Error: No more memory available.
    clearfsimport: Error: Unable to add version to activity change
    set.
    clearfsimport: Warning: VOB updated, but failure updating
    activity change set in PVOB.
    
    Several files and folders do not get imported and the UCM
    activity is left in an unusable state. Also, attempting to apply
    a baseline to the files that appear to have been imported does
    not label all the versions. There is some cleanup required to
    restore the UCM environment.
    
    
    WORKAROUND:
    
    To cleanup and continue with the clearfsimport execution:
    
    1. Remove all versions on the UCM-guarded branch, which do not
    have a Change hyperlink.
    cleartool find -all -branch 'brtype(branch-name)' -version
    '!version(.../branch-name/0) && !hltype(Change)' -exec
    'cleartool rmver \'%CLEARCASE_XPN%\''
    2. Run ucmutil sync_changeset -fix <activity-selector>
    3. Run clearfsimport again
    

Local fix

Problem summary

  • When running clearfsimport into a UCM activity and a
    multisited vob, a memory leak occurs and the process fails.
    

Problem conclusion

  • A fix is available in ClearCase versions 7.0.0.5, 7.0.1.4,
    and 7.1.0.1.
