PK48507: FINISH BUTTON IS DISABLED IN PORTLET PROJECT CREATION

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• During the Portlet Project creation, on defining a new target ru
  ntime but cancel it during the definition of WS Portal runtime.
  The canceled server runtime is still defined. This should not ha
  ve happened since we click cancel already.
  Steps that are used to produce the problem:
  1. Open a new Portlet Project
  2. Under target runtime, choose new
  3. Select WebSphere Portal v6.0
  4. Click Next, and leave the WS Portal Location and WAS Location
   blank
  5. Click cancel
  6. Click Next, then Back again
  7. Under target runtime the 'canceled server runtime is there' (
   this should not have happened, since we click cancel already),
  and the Finish button is disabled throughout the project creatio
  n.
  Note: under Window? Preferences? Server ? InstalledRuntime the '
  canceled server runtime is defined' (this should not have happen
  ed, since we click cancel already)
  However, there is a workaround to make the Finish button enabled
   again:
  1. After the Finish button is disabled
  2. Check the 'show advanced settings', and click Next
  3. Uncheck 2 Project Facet that cause the error.
  4. The finish button is enabled again.
  

Local fix

Problem summary

• If the portal runtime creation wizard was canceled an
  incomplete portal server runtime was being created and the
  Finish button was disabled throughout the portlet project
  creation.
  

Problem conclusion

• The new runtime is created only when the user provide the
  required values in WebSphere Portal Location and WebSphere
  Application Server Location fields and clicks finish. If the
  user cancels the new runtime wizard the Finish Button on the
  portlet project creation page is not disabled .
