Error description

  • Using Rational Application Developer V7002.
    If a portlet class tries to catch a custom exception (ie. extend
    s java.lang.Exception) that is defined inside a Web Application
    project library a NoClassDefFoundError is received when deployin
    g to a local Portal 6 test environment.
    

Local fix

Problem summary

  • Publishing uses XML Access which requires the dependent
    project classes to be present in WEB-INF/lib and this caused
    publishing to fail.
    

Problem conclusion

  • Fix delivered in Rational Application Developer V7004.
