APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Using the Formatted in IBM Developer for System z 14.1 it is
possible to change the Indentation
of the IF statement  'in Procedure division' from 3 to 6
position.
Back in the editor session and then run the Formatter.

As a result, a popup appears first that formatting an entire
file can take few minutes.
Clicking on Yes; no feedback is provided whether the formatting
action is finished or still underway.

The Progress view shows no activity.
In the source, nothing is changed, meaning that the indentation
of the IF statement remains at 3 positions

Local fix

  • There is no known workaround at this time.

Problem summary

  • The IDz COBOL formatter fails to format procedure division code
within sections.

Problem conclusion

  • Modified the formatter to correctly provide formatting within
procedure division sections.
