APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • LENGTH OF is an integer sender and is therefore incompatible
with the STRING statement. However V4.2 seems to support it
partially and Enterprise COBOL Vx.x does not complain about
using it as a sender. The compiler was generating unexpected and
undefined code when parsing an integer sender in a STRING
    statement.
Compiler was updated to properly handle a LENGTH OF sender in a
    STRING statement.

Local fix

  • Copy LENGTH OF value into a temporary USAGE DISPLAY data item
and use that data item in the STRING statement.
