APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • When a user adds a Debug engine path source lookup container to
a launch, the search path is set in a global preference.
Removing the source lookup container, or deleting the launch has
no effect on the preference.

Local fix

  • delete global_engine_path=XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
from
<workspace_path>\.metadata\.plugins\org.eclipse.core.runtime\.se
ttings\com.ibm.debug.pdt.ui.prefs

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
* USERS AFFECTED:                                              *
* Users who add a Debug engine path search path.               *

* PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:                                         *
* After adding a Debug engine path seach path, the global      *
* engine search path cannot be unset, even by deleting the     *
* launch configuration.                                        *
* As a result, the debug engine may not process debug request, *
* such as step into, correctly.                                *

* RECOMMENDATION:                                              *

Problem conclusion

  • A new preference, Global engine search path, is added to the
Compiled Debug preference page, thus allowing users to remove,
or set the global engine search path.

This problem is fixed in v14.0.0.7 of the following products:
IBM Debug for z Systems
IBM Developer for z Systems
IBM Developer for z Systems Enterprise Edition
