PI98395: LOCKS NOT BEING RELEASED FOR FAILED OR CANCELLED PROCESS

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• 1: create a component process with below steps in sequence
  a. acquire lock
     b. wait ( 60 sec or 120 sec or whatever time you need to
  cancel the process while the wait is still running)
     c. release lock
  2: now call this component process from an application process.
  3: Run the app process, you will see it acquire lock and wait
  step is running.
  4. then at the application process, cancel the process.
  
  Result: then overall process does say cancelled, but the wait
  step within each component process keeps running for the
  specified time (60 or 120sec) and so locks are not released
  until then.
  
  When any process cancels, any locks within should be
  automatically released.
  

Local fix

• Cancel the child process with the acquire step.

Problem conclusion

• Fixed in UCD 7.0.1.0. Locks are now being released as part of a
  cancelled/failed process.
