PI96149: ABEND04E RC00E4D5D2 IN DSNUBBID+405C RUNNING COPY CHANGELIMIT REPORTONLY WITH HARDCODED DUMMY COPYDDN DD

Error description

• COPY SHRLEVEL CHANGE using CHANGELIMIT and REPORTONLY fails
  with an abend04E RC00E4D5D2 in DSNUBBID+405C.
  This is happening whenever objetcs are skipped, for instance
  due to msgdsnu442i:
  DSNU442I DSNUBACH - CHANGELIMIT REPORT INFORMATION UNAVAILABLE
           FOR TABLESPACE dbname.tsname DSNUM 1 WITH TRACKMOD NO
  DSNU443I DSNUBACH - NO CHANGE LIMIT MET FOR TABLESPACE
           dbname.tsname DSNUM 1
  DSNU016I DSNUGBAC - UTILITY BATCH MEMORY EXECUTION ABENDED,
           REASON=X'00E4D5D2'
  .
  The problem happens only when the user has coded a dummy
  COPYDDN DD in the JCL.
  If customer uses a TEMPLATE with a dummy file all works fine.
  

Local fix

• Remove the hardcoded dummy DD and use a TEMPLATE statement.

  A COPY utility with CHANGELIMIT REPORTONLY and a DD DUMMY
  statement for COPYDDN received an ABEND04E RC00E4D5D2 in
  DSNUBBID +x'405C'. This error occurred in the UTILTERM phase
  because utility serialization had been done for the object
  but REPORTONLY should bypass serialization.
  

Problem conclusion

• COPY utility code has been modified to skip serialization on
  the object if REPORTONLY is specified.
