Error description
Correct CBL V5.2 BLF offset in compile listing to match the SYSMDUMP file data
Local fix
DON'T USE THE BLF ADDRESS AGAINST THE DATA DIVISION MAP. TO CORRECTLY FIND THE DATA ITEM IN SYSMDUMP: 1- SYSMDUMP PROVIDES THE ADDRESS OF STATIC STORAGE (WORKING-STORAGE SECTION STATIC ADDRESS). IN SYSMDUMP GO TO THE START OF THE STATIC STORAGE (BEGINNING OF STATIC STORAGE) 2- ADD OFFSET FOR ANY 01 DATA ITEM BY USING THE STATIC MAP IN LISTING 3- ADD THE DATA DIVSION MAP OFFSETS FOR DATA ITEM
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: Users of Enterprise COBOL 6.2 compiling * * programs with the MAP option in effect * * where the programs contain at least one of * * the following: * * - a file defined with the RECORDING MODE S * * clause. * * - a file defined with the LINAGE clause. * * - a WRITE statement with a BEFORE/AFTER * * ADVANCING phrase. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Incorrect compiler listing: In the * * compiler listing, data items that are * * part of a file record may show an * * invalid offset from their associated * * BLF cell. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the provided PTF. * **************************************************************** For some data items, the compiler was displaying in the listing an offset from its BLF cell that included the length of record prefix characters, such as carriage control characters, even though the address in the associated BLF cell was already calculated to take those prefix characters into account.
Problem conclusion
The compiler was updated to display correct information in the listing about the offset of file record items from their associated BLF cell.
