**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: Users of Enterprise COBOL 5.2 and later * * releases compiling and running programs * * that use PROCEDURE-POINTER data-items to * * call sub-programs residing in different * * Program Objects. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The program terminates abnormally with * * S0C4 ABEND in IGZXPRS1. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the provided PTF. * **************************************************************** When a sub-program called by PROCEDURE-POINTER returns, the COBOL runtime library sets the Writable Static Area (WSA) address incorrectly for the caller program, leading to subsequent S0C4 ABEND in IGZXPRS1. This error occurs when the caller program and sub-program are residing in different Program Objects.
Problem conclusion
The COBOL runtime library has been fixed to set WSA addresses properly when handling PROCEDURE-POINTRE calls.
