Error description

  • Customer ran DB2 12 for z/OS DSNTIJTC job.  The job completed
    with Return code=8 with no accompanying error message issued.
    The relevant error information is in DB2 MSTR joblog DSNT500I
    reason code 00C200EF.

Local fix

  • Check DB2 MSTR joblog output for any error message reason code
    at the same time DSNTIJTC issued return code=8.

    Return code of a CATMAINT utility module was checked and
    propagated all the way out but there was no logic to generate
    diagnostic messages to the job output if the return code
    indicated a failure.
    
    This APAR was opened in response to a PMR which reported an
    DSNT500I message with reason code 00C200EF and resource name
    <high-level-qualifier>.DSNDBC.DSNDB01.DBD01.I0001.A001 .
    The error happened because the user did not provide a SMS
    data class that is defined with extended addressability
    attribute.
    

Problem conclusion

  • Code logic has been added to CATMAINT utility to check for
    resource-not-available situations (such as the DSNT500I
    message) to generate a DSNU590I message in the job
    output and, for other errors, generate the following DSNU777I
    message:
    
       "DSNU777I - DSNUECMI CATMAINT UTILITY STATUS - UNKNOWN ERROR
       FROM DSNUECMJ"
