Error description

• In Rational Developer for System z V9.5.1.3, COBOL copybooks
  opened in COBOL or LPEX editors may show invalid
  warning triangles when there is a typo or mispelled key word.
  The COBOL parser may overreach into other
  lines and report error for lines that have valid syntax. In the
  following example, PIC is mispelled for the
  X-RCN-TEST-DSN field, but the parser flags the rest of the lines
  in the X-RCN-PARAMETERS structure.

Local fix

• - Locate and correct any typos or mispelling in the COBOL key
  words
  

Problem summary

• Misspelled PIC clauses had the potential to highlight more of
  the PIC clause than desired
  

Problem conclusion

• The error for a misspelled PIC clause is now more contained.
  
  The problem listed in this APAR has been resolved with
  IBM Rational Developer for z Systems V9.5.1.8 Fix Pack which
  is available from the Recommended Fixes support download page:
