  * USERS AFFECTED: Users of the IBM Automatic Binary Optimizer  *
  *                 (ABO) for z/OS v1.2 with input datasets that *
  *                 ALIASes.                                     *

  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: ABO does not support being called on an *
  *                      ALIAS.                                  *
  *                                                              *
  *                      When ABO is invoked with a dataset      *
  *                      name and a wildcarded member list in    *
  *                      the "IN" specifier, ABO will process    *
  *                      each real member in the input dataset   *
  *                      and produce an optimized member in the  *
  *                      output dataset. It will also            *
  *                      automatically re-create in the output   *
  *                      dataset, any existing aliases in the    *
  *                      input dataset. However, if ABO is       *
  *                      invoked on an ALIAS, an appropriate     *
  *                      message is not produced.                *

  * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the provided PTF.                      *

  If ABO is called with an explicit ALIAS name in the "IN"
  specifier, ABO will now generate the message BOZ1417: File
  "HLQ.DSNAME(ALIASNM)" does not exist, where ALIASNM is an ALIAS
  in the dataset HLQ.DSNAME.
  

Problem conclusion

• ABO now produces an appropriate error message, if it is invoked
  with an ALIAS name.
