  * USERS AFFECTED: All users of the IBM Automatic Binary        *
  *                 Optimizer (ABO) for z/OS, v1.2 with input    *
  *                 modules compiled by COBOL for MVS V1R2.      *
  ****************************************************************
  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: If an old options module is used with a *
  *                      later compiler then the version number  *
  *                      in the compiled module may be           *
  *                      corrupted.                              *
  *                                                              *
  *                      For example using a VS COBOL II         *
  *                      options module with the COBOL for MVS   *
  *                      V1R2 compiler will encode in the        *
  *                      module an incorrect version of V1R4.    *
  *                      ABO relies on correct version number    *
  *                      information in order to successfully    *
  *                      optimize a module.                      *
  *                                                              *
  *                      In these cases,  ABO may abend with     *
  *                      the message  Assertion failed in        *
  *                      BinaryCodeAnalyzer.cpp:498, in the      *
  *                      OPTERR dataset.                         *

  * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the provided PTF.                      *

  ABO was modified to detect these types of modules and
  issue the message BOZ1455: unsupported feature "Program
  Complexity 103" found.
  

Problem conclusion

• ABO now detects and skips optimizing these modules.
