APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • When the 'ccm_server -port PORT -stop' command fails to stop a
server process, it returns "Cannot find the server. The server
can only be stopped on the server machine. If the server is not
running on the default port, you must specify the server port
number.", but the exit code is not set. This causes the exit
code to be interpreted as '0' (success) rather than non-zero
    (error).

Local fix

  • Either
    - edit $CCM_HOME/bin/ccm_server and add a line 'exit 1'
following the line 'echo "Cannot find the server. The server can
only be stopped on the server machine. If the server is not
running on the default port, you must specify the server port
    number."'

-modify any script dependent on the exit code to look for and
interpret the output string "Cannot find the server. The server
can only be stopped on the server machine. If the server is not
running on the default port, you must specify the server port
    number."
