APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• 1) Install a RHEL 7 and select the Gnome Desktop
  Once the OS is installed, update it: yum update
  And install the KDE Desktop Environment too
  
  2) Login in the RHEL client machine and install a Synergy 7.2.1
  client, then patch the Synergy client installation with 7.2.1.5
  + 7.2.1.5.ifix03
  
  3) Once the Synergy installation is done, logout of the RHEL
  session.
  Select the KDE Desktop environment and reboot the client machine
  After the reboot, login in RHEL.
  => The Desktop environment is KDE.
  
  Try to start a Synergy GUI session:
  => The Synergy login dialog appears ahead of the splashscreen.
  So  with KDE, this is working properly.
  
  
  4) Logout of the RHEL session.
  Select the Gnome Desktop environment and reboot the client
  machine
  After the reboot, login in RHEL.
  => The Desktop environment is Gnome.
  
  Try to start a Synergy GUI session:
  
  Observed result:
  The Synergy login dialog is not visible.
  We can only see the splashscreen window, and the info: "enter
  login details 10%"
  
  Expected result:
  The Synergy login dialog is visible, ahead of the splashscreen.
  

Local fix

• Workarounds:
  -workaround 1:
  In fact the Splashscreen window is covering the Login dialog.
  If you right click on the "Start IBM Rational Synergy" button in
  the desktop menu, and select Maximise.
  => the Login dialog will then appear, but still behind the
  splashscreen.
  However you will have access to the Login fields and will be
  able to enter the login info.
  
  -workaround 2:
  Move back to the KDE desktop environment as explained in point
  "3" above
  
  -workaround 3:
  start the cmsynergy session specifying all the argument.
  ex:
  cmsynergy -password <password> -database <database_path> -server
  <server address>
