APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• In RDz v9.5.1.3 when a new debug configuration is created for
  z/OS, the generated EQUAOPTS dataset contains incorrect value
  for TEST option.
  
  What is done:
  Create a new debug configuration, for example for a Remote DB2
  application.
  In the DB2 tab, fill in values for Load module name, connectiont
  Select IBM Debug Tool as the engine.
  Select "Enable this configuration as the debug profile on the
  remote system"
  Enter a valid value for Profile Location, for example:
  &USERID.DBGTOOL.EQAUOPTS
  In the Debug Options Tab, do not specify a preference file.
  
  Click on Apply, and inspect the dataset on the host system for
  the profile location.
  
  What is expected:
  The TEST option should end with :*  for the TCPIP specification.
  
  What is observed:
  The * is missing
  

Local fix

• Add the * manually
  

Problem summary

• The Remote DB2 Application and Remote IMS Application debug
  configurations do not generate the appropriate TEST runtime
  option with respect to the debug preferences file.  For example,
   when not specifying a preference file, the following may be
  generated:
  TEST(,,,TCPIP&ip%port)
  instead of
  TEST(,,,TCPIP&ip%port:*)
  And when a preference file is specified in the debug
  configuration, the following may be generated
  TEST(,,,TCPIP&ip%port)
  instead of
  TEST(,,,TCPIP&ip%port:pref_file)
  

Problem conclusion

• The Remote DB2 Application and Remote IMS Application debug
  configurations were not correctly detecting the setting that
  indicated that IBM Debug Tool was being used.  This issue should
   now be address and the TEST runtime option correctly generated
  with  a * when no debug preference file was specified, or
  include the preference in the TEST runtime option.
  
  The problem listed in this APAR has been resolved with
  IBM Rational Developer for z Systems V9.5.1.4 Fix Pack which
  is available from the Recommended Fixes support download page:
