Error description
Customer gets an ABEND04E 00C2010D with following message: DSNB232I -D461 DSNB1OPD - UNEXPECTED DATA SET LEVEL ID ENCOUNTERED LEVEL ID=X'D0AF37F9301C EXPECTED LEVEL ID=X'D0AF37F9291C' ... This happens after a MODIFY DELETE DATE using the current date; the MODIFY was run right after midnight, but it appears that due to the GMT/local time offset the wrong rows were deleted.
Local fix
Use a 1 day older DATE for MODIFY utility.
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All DB2 10 for z/OS and DB2 11 for z/OS * * utility users of MODIFY RECOVERY TABLESPACE * * DELETE. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: DB2 issued MSGDSNB232I after MODIFY * * RECOVERY TABLESPACE DELETE was run on * * a table space. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: Apply corrective PTF when available. * **************************************************************** MODIFY RECOVERY TABLESPACE DELETE with AGE or DATE was executed on a table space in a data sharing environment. The MODIFY deleted the most recent SYSIBM.SYSLGRNX record for one member but kept an older SYSLGRNX record from another member. This caused a subsequent access of the table space to receive a down-level detection error and message DSNB232I - UNEXPECTED DATA SET LEVEL ID ENCOUNTERED was issued. This problem can occur for other deletion criteria used for MODIFY RECOVERY TABLESPACE DELETE such as AGE(n), DATE, RETAIN, LOGLIMIT, GDGLIMIT. This problem can also occur in a non data sharing environment.
Problem conclusion
MODIFY RECOVERY code has been changed to correctly delete SYSLGRNX records older than the deletion criteria.
