When running Software Analyzer > software metrics > basic for a
workspace the client will hang.


Steps to recreate:

Create a new workspace
create a zOS connection
create a zOS Project / MVS subproject
Add a COBOL program such as STARTAPP from a remote PDS
Open the STARTAPP from the new project in the COBOL Editor
Right Mouse Click and select Software Analyzer
Select new software Analyzer configuration
Select Rules > COBOL Software Metrics > Basic Metrics
Do not change the name field
Leave the default of Entire Workspace checked
Running the analyzer will hang

Problem summary

  • Software Analyzer may freeze when running software
metrics for workspace containing remote resources.

Problem conclusion

  • Modified metrics provider to parse remote files during
pre-analysis, before the locks on files are activated.

The problem listed in this APAR has been resolved with
IBM Rational Developer for z Systems V9.5.1.4 Fix Pack which
is available from the Recommended Fixes support download page:
