APAR status

Error description

• Opening a file from a IBM Rational ClearCase dynamic view with
  O_CLOEXEC fails with an EINVAL error on IBM AIX 7.1 TL4 Service
  Pack 2.
  This is caused by the new O_CLOEXEC flag requiring 64-bit open
  flags and returning an EINVAL error for filesystems that do not
  support these flags.
  As MVFS doesn't inform the OS it can support 64-bit open flags
  the EINVAL error is received when opening a file with this flag.

Problem conclusion

• On AIX 7.1 (and later) the O_CLOEXEC flag can now be used to
  open a file/dir in the ClearCase MVFS.  This problem is fixed in
  ClearCase fixpacks 8.0.1.14 and 9.0.0.4.
