Error description

  • You are using CPSM Workload Management WLM to manage routing in
    your CICSPlex. Your workload is setup to use the GOAL or LNGOAL
    algorithm. Under the direction of IBM Service, you turn on WLM
    trace level 19. You then find an abend in CPSM method WNAL. In
    the job log for the routing region where this WLM Level 19
    trace was turned on, you see messages similar to the following:
    .
    DFHDU0205 <applid> A SYSTEM DUMP FOR DUMPCODE: AP0001  , WAS

Local fix

  • Do not turn CPSM WLM Level 19 trace on when using GOAL or LNGOAL

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:                                         *
    * When using CPSM Workload Manager to control your dynamic *
    * routing environment, and are routing dynamic transactions *
    * using the GOAL or LNGOAL routing algorithms, and WLM Trace *
    * level 19 has been activated, then an ASRA abend is reported *
    * in module EYU0WNAL.                                          *

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    * After applying the PTF that resolves this APAR, all MASes *
    * acting as WLM routing regions (TORs) must be recycled to *
    * pick up the new code. Note that regions do not need to be *
    * brought down and restarted at the same time. *
    ****************************************************************
    During execution of the dynamic routing algorithm processor
    (EYU0WNAL), details of the state of each target AOR are held in
    a chain of AOR work element blocks (WAOWs). These blocks are
    constructed in the WLM dataspace, and so require an Alet and an
    Offset to locate each WAOW element. During WAOW data collection,
    Access Register 15 (AR15) is used to locate the first WAOW for
    each new CEC/Sysplex. When addressability to that WAOW is no
    longer required, then General Register 15 (GR15) is cleared but
    but the Alet value in Access Register 15 is not. This residual
    value has no ill effects, until WLM trace level 19 is activated
    and the routing algothm being used is GOAL or LNGOAL. When that
    happens, an attempt to trace out the "GOAL System Group Class
    Block" (WSGC) results in an ASRA abend, because the value held
    in the Alet-to-offset table is located from the address in GR15,
    but the residual ALET value in AR15 causes a mis-location of the
    required conversion table entry.

Problem conclusion

  • When addressability to the first WAOW element is no longer
    required, then the ALET reference for the WAOR is cleared out of
    Access Register 15.
