Error description

  • IDz - v14.0.0

Description :
In the "Debug Configurations" wizard, when creating an MVS Batch
Application, a "JCL step must be specified" error message is
displayed whereas the step field is filled.
This error occurs only when the connection is not established.

Steps to reproduce :
- Open the debug perspective
- Open Run-> Debug configurations
- Create an MVS Batch application, fill the JCL name and step
-> a "JCL step must be specified" error message displayed
- Click on "Connection" and then the error disappears

Local fix

  • No error displayed if the connection is established.

Problem summary

  • When creating an MVS Batch Application launch configuration for
a connection that is currently not connected, the user is
prevented from saving or launching the configuration due to the
message "JCL step must be specified", even when the step is
specified.

Problem conclusion

  • The problem was caused by the MVS Batch Application launch
configuration not correctly detecting connection events and
refreshing its error status.

Temporary fix
