Error description

  • Mulitple batch jobs are concurrently running to send API
requests to the CICS CM Server. Intermittently, some of the
API requests fail with error messages (condensed):

DFHWB0101 ... CWBA The CICS Web Interface alias program DFHWBA
detected a failure in program DFHWBBLI ...

DFHDU0203I ... A transaction dump was taken for dumpcode: AWBM
    ..
DFHAC2236 ... Transaction CWBA abend AWBM in program CCVWSDSH

Examination of the EXEC INTERFACE BLOCK indicates that an
EXEC CICS DEFINE PROCESS(PROCESS-NAME) failed with EIBRESP=108
(x'6C' PROCESSERR) EIBRESP2=02 (process name already in use).

CCVWSDSH (SOAP/HTTP dispatcher) defines a BTS process and
constructs the PROCESS-NAME using a counter for uniqueness. If
the name counter server is not available, the program uses the
EXEC CICS ASKTIME ABSTIME value to construct a pseduo-counter.
However, ABSTIME is measured to the millisecond, and depending
upon throughput and workload concurrency this may not ensure
    uniqueness.

Local fix

  • Configure a CICS TS Named Counter server for use by CICS CM.

and constructs the PROCESS-NAME using a counter for uniqueness.
If the named counter server is not available, the program uses
the EXEC CICS ASKTIME ABSTIME value to construct a
    pseudo-counter.
However, ABSTIME is measured to the millisecond, and depending
upon throughput and workload concurrency this may not ensure
    uniqueness.

Problem conclusion

  • Program CCVWSDSH is corrected to include the CICS transaction's
task number in the PROCESS-NAME to ensure uniqueness.
