PI70300: ISSUED CEMT P SHUT IMMEDIATE BUT REGION WILL NOT COME DOWN DUE TO CEMT BEING STUCK IN CREATE_PTHREAD PROCESS

Error description

• You are running CICS 5.2 and issue:
  CEMT P SHUT I
  In 2 different regions running with Liberty Profile.
  You see message:
  DFHTM1703  applid CICS is being terminated by
             userid  in transaction CEMT at terminal xxxx
  
  Yet the CICS regions never terminate and just hang.  A dump
  taken at the time of the hang shows:
  in 1 case the CEMT task is Running on the TP TCB
  the other case, there are no running tasks, and the TP TCB has
  been detached already.
  
  In both cases CEMT's stack looks the same- being stuck in the
  CREATE_PTHREAD process Here are some modules from its STACK:

  DFHSJIN+A12, waiting for the sjki_ready_ecb to be posted.

Local fix

Problem summary

• ****************************************************************
  * USERS AFFECTED: All CICS users.                              *
  ****************************************************************
  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The JVM server create_pthread           *
  *                      process hangs after the JVM has         *
  *                      become unresponsive.                    *
  ****************************************************************
  A PERFORM SHUTDOWN command is issued to terminate the CICS
  region. The task performing the shutdown tries to disable
  a running JVM server, and needs to create a new PTHREAD.
  The JVM has become unresponsive, so the task will wait
  forever for the create_pthread to complete.
  

Problem conclusion

• DFHSJIN has been changed to timeout if create_pthread fails
  to create a pthread.
  
  The CICS Transaction Server for z/OS Version 5 Release 2 Trace
  Entries manual (SC34-7295-00) will be updated with a new trace
  entry in chapter 18, JVM domain trace points:
