  *                      blocks allocated by DSNB1OPS.           *

  For performance reasons, DB2 V12 will keep certain pageset
  control blocks (PBs and PBLs) allocated, so as not to require
  the overhead of reallocating and rebuilding them if the table
  space or index is accessed later.  This can cause DBM1 storage
  to increase, and in some cases (like following a DROP) there
  is really no chance that these blocks are of any further use.
  

Problem conclusion

• The logic which decides whether or not to free PB and PBL blocks
  has been modified to consider the following additional cases for
  freeing them:
    - control blocks were last accessed by SQL DROP.
    - table space or index has no open datasets and was just
      handled by deferred close (DD limit or DSMAX hit).
    - table space or index has no open datasets and was last
      accessed by SQL CREATE.
