APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • You may receive message ICH408I when userid doesn't have OMVS
segment defined. FM is being changed so the BPX* calls are
only made when required to verify if a POSIC environment exits.

Local fix

  • ICH408I is an Informational message, and can be ignored. The
ICH408I message can also be eliminated by defining an OMVS
segment for the userid running File Manager.

    * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the provided PTF. *
    ****************************************************************
    1. File Manager was invoking a Unix service which was issuing
       the ICH408I message.
    2. For CICS File Manager was not setting the Dub_setting
parameter to DUBPROCESS to ensure that subtasks like COBOL
5.2 were DUBBed as new processes when they issue their first
z/OS UNIX service call. This resulted in the U4093 abend.

Problem conclusion

  • File Manager was updated to correct the problems.
    For Problem 2.
File Manager was modified to only the initialize the UNIX
environment so that subtasks are DUBBed as new processes when
    required.
