  • RECOVER INDEX xxx.indexname DSNUM 1 TOLASTFULLCOPY was
specified for an NPI

The last full copy happened to be a sequential copy.  Use
of DSNUM for an NPI is only allowed if the image copy used is a
flash copy image copy.

This invalid use resulted in abend:

Recovery of a piece (DSNUM n) of a NPI  with TOLASTCOPY or
TOLASTFULLCOPY receives ABEND04E RC00C20305 DSNIOPNP OFFSET0892E
when the image copy to be restored is a sequential image copy
data set.  This abend occurred because this scenario should not
be allowed for sequential image copy data sets.  In this case,
error message DSNU524I (INVALID DATA SET OR PARTITION NUMBER)
should have been issued.

Recovery of an NPI piece with RECOVER INDEX DSNUM n TOLASTCOPY
or TOLASTFULLCOPY should only be allowed when the data set to be
restored is a FlashCopy image copy.

Problem conclusion

  • RECOVER code was corrected to issue msgDSNU524I  for piece
recovery of a NPI with TOLASTCOPY or TOLASTFULLCOPY when the
data set to be restored is a sequential image copy.
