Error description

  • Due to a network error a SNA connection to a CICS server
    becomes unresponsive. This causes the following messages to be
    written to the Client daemon logs: CCL4636E Allocate session to
    <server_name> failed with APPC return code X'0300', X'05000000'
    - retryable CCL2162W The Client daemon process has become
    unresponsive.
    Message CCL2162W is repeated many times.

Problem summary

    USERS AFFECTED:
    All users of CICS TG and SNA connected CICS servers.
    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM SUMMARY:
    After a SNA network error has occurred, CICS TG tries to
    reestablish the connection. If the SNA service provider takes a
    long time to process the ALLOCATE request issued by the Client
    daemon the reported messages are issued. Requests to other,
    unaffected server connections will continue to be processed
    slowly.

Problem conclusion

  • CICS TG has been changed to close its connection to the CICS
    server when no other sessions to that CICS server exist. This
    prevents the lengthy failed retry attempts.
