    * USERS AFFECTED:                                              *
    * DB2 Version 12 administrators, executing the ACCESS DATABASE *
    * command.                                                     *

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:                                         *
    * The ACCESS DATABASE command uses parallelism to access *
    * multiple partitions of an object. If the access operation *
    * (i.e. OPEN) fails for a subset of the partitions, the *
    * corresponding return code might not be picked up correctly *
    * and the command responds with a non - deterministic return *
    * code, sometimes even zero. This might prevent automation *
    * from detecting that the access operation failed for a subset *
    * of partitions.                                               *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    The ACCESS DATABASE command doesn't produce deterministic return
    codes if the access operation (i.e. OPEN) failed for a subset of
    partitions.

Problem conclusion

  • The fix improves the synchronization of the ACCESS DATABASE
    command with the parallel executed tasks to ensure that the
    return codes are correctly handled.
