APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • The cobol.dbg fileset contains expression evaluator code so that
client's can use the IBM Debugger along with COBOL programs. So
this fileset shouldn't pre-req the compiler.

Local fix

  • cobol.dbg.4.1.1.0 does not pre-req the compiler and can be
    installed without the compiler.

Problem summary

  • USERS AFFECTED:
COBOL users who try to install just the cobol.dbg fileset
without the COBOL compiler installed will be affected by this
    issue.

    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
The cobol.dbg fileset pre-reqs the cobol.cmp fileset at
    installation time.

Clients who did not have the COBOL ocmpiler installed but wanted
to use the debugger to debug COBOL programs were not able too.

Problem conclusion

  • CONCLUSION:
The compiler pre-req has been removed now when trying to install
    the cobol.dbg fileset.

Temporary fix
