PI65023: COMPILE OPTION DIAGNOSTICS WHILE COMPILING "ERRMSG" PROGRAM CAUSE JUNK MESSAGES AND A COMPILER ABEND

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• If an ERRMSG program is being compiled to get a compiler message
  listing, and there are compiler option diagnostics, for example
  a conflict between the LIST and OFFSET options, the compile ends
  badly with junk messages being displayed and diagnostics:
  
  IGYDI5125-U The compilation was terminated due to a compiler
      error in phase id: "IGYCDIAG".
  
  IGYDI5006-U Device end-of-file was reached while reading from
      compiler work file, "SYSUT3 ".

• Correct the option problems.

  *                      options, and the compiler aborts with   *
  *                      the following messages:                 *

  *                      due to a compiler error in phase id:    *
  *                      "IGYCDIAG".                             *

  *                      IGYDI5006-U Device end-of-file was      *
  *                      reached while reading from compiler     *
  *                      work file, "SYSUT3".                    *

  The compiler aborts if compiling a program with program- id
  ERRMSG and conflicting compiler options were also specified.
  

Problem conclusion

• The compiler was modified to generate the listing of all the
  compiler messages without aborting when the compiler issue
  compiler option related messages.
