Error description

• ABEND0C4 DSNIWKFT OFFSET01FE, ABEND0C4-38 DSNXECL OFFSET0F38, or
  ABEND0C4-38 DSNXECW OFFSET29EE  can occur when trying to delete
  an already deleted workfile by sort.

  *                      DSNIWKFT +01FE, DSNXECL +0F38, or       *
  *                      DSNXECW +29EE when trying to delete an  *
  *                      already deleted workfile that SORT had  *
  *                      created (and also deleted) because of   *
  *                      unforeseen errors or logic.             *

  * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
  ****************************************************************
  An ABEND0C4 RC38 can possibly occur at locations DSNIWKFT
  OFFSET01FE , DSNXECL OFFSET0F38 , or DSNXECW OFFSET29EE when
  trying to delete an already deleted workfile that SORT had
  created (and also deleted) because of unforeseen errors or
  logic.
  
  Please note that this problem is rare but its likelihood (or
  exposure) has slightly increased following the application of
  apar PI59514 which changed some logic.  In the past, these
  problems were considered to be hidden or unknown.
  

Problem conclusion

• DB2 has been modified to reduce the timing window for
  the noted failures to occur and help ensure that DB2 (sort) will
  not try to delete workfiles that were already deleted by sort.
