PI64565: ABEND0C4 PIC3B IN DSNB1OPP +521E DURING END-RESTART

Error description

• An abend with the following title occurred during end restart .
  DSN ,ABND=0C4-0000003B,U=SYSOPR  ,M=N  ,C=111.BMC
   -DSNB1OPS,M=DSNTFRCV,LOC=DSNIDM  .DSNB1OPP+521E
                                                                 .
  A multi-piece non-partitioned table space had received an open
  failure during restart log apply. Later, at end-restart there
  was a 'special' open for the same table space. However, the
  Piece Description entry (PDP) was modified by first open and
  restart provides only one PDP. So the same PDP was used for
  piece 0 and piece 1, modifying piece number. Later on special
  open, having piece number already set to 1 lead to the abend.

  The abend may occur during a "special open" at end-restart, for
  a multi-piece non-partitioned pageset for which an open earlier
  in restart had failed.
  
  The problem is caused by the PDP (pageset piece block) being
  modified by the earlier open attempt.  Restart builds only one
  PDP for a non-partitioned pageset, regardless of how many data
  sets it actually has, and the open will modify its piece number
  field as it processes subsequent datasets.  If the initial open
  request fails, end-restart will attempt a "special open" using
  the same PDP, and the modified piece count can result in an
  ABEND0C4 in DSNB1OPP.
  
  The ABEND0C4 in DSNB1OPP will result in DB2 abnormal termination
  RC00D96001.
  

Problem conclusion

• The pageset open logic has been modified to ensure that, for a
  non-partitioned pageset, the piece number is reinitialized.
