APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • During CHINIT shutdown that task issues MQRC 2202 (ie.
    MQRC_CONNECTION_QUIESCING) The CHINIT generates dump title
    ABN=0C4-00000011,C=R3600.710.CHIN,M=CSQXDISP,LOC=CSQXRCTL.
    CSQXRERR+004CA indicating the pointer to pErrorInfo references
    unavailable storage. Change Team finds this abend occurs when
    issuing a message for a held conversation (an incoming
    connection has been blocked by the listener due to a BLOCKADDR
    CHLAUTH rule and the connection is held for 30 seconds before
    the error is reported and the connection terminated).
    During that time period the CHINIT begins shutdown, causing the
    listener to end and its errorInfo control block to be freed.
    However, the held conversation still refers to this errorInfo
    control block and the abend occurs when attempting to use it to
    issue the error message while that storage is no longer
    available.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Abend S0C4 may occur in CSQXRERR during *
    * shutdown of the channel initiator if a *
    * blocked channel is attempting to *
    *                      connect.                                *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    If a channel that matches a CHLAUTH BLOCKADDR rule is attempting
    to connect at the same time as the channel initiator is shutting
    down, an S0C4 abend may occur in CSQXRERR as some storage that
    is being used by the blocked channel may be released when the
    listener task terminates.

Problem conclusion

  • Processing has been amended to ensure that the storage used by
    the blocked channel remains available, even if the listener or
    channel initiator is terminated during the connection process.
