PI62718: SERVICES IGZCA2D AND IGZCD2A HAVE DEPENDENCIES ON CODE AND DATA STRUCTURES OF EARLIER VERSIONS OF COBOL

APAR status

Error description

• The COBOL Programming Guide continues to document the use of
  IGZCA2D (MBCS to DBCS conversion) and IGZCD2A (DBCS to MBCS
  conversion), however these modules have dependencies on code
  generated by COBOL v4 and earlier, as well as on data structures
  used by the corresponding run-time. This causes them to fail
  with an ABEND0C1 when used from COBOL v5 and later compiled
  code.

  Existing entry points, IGZCA2D and IGZCD2A, could not process
  CALLs from programs compiled with COBOL V5 or later.
  

Problem conclusion

• This APAR corrects the runtime entry points IGZCA2D or IGZCD2A
  so that they can function properly when called by a COBOL
  program compiled with Enterprise COBOL V5+.  This APAR works in
  conjunction with APAR PI62381.
