Error description

  • You recently applied the fix for PI53745 (4.2), PI54032
    (5.1/5.2) or PI54799 (5.3). Now, if you cycle a CMAS while it
    has active MASes connected to it, transaction TSSC may AICA in
    the CMAS when it restarts and begins reconnecting the MASes.
    .
    In the CMAS job log, you may see
    .

    .
    The methods listed in the Methods= message may be anywhere in
    the process, and may only show up to XCLL, or XQGQ, depending
    upon where things were when CICS stepped in to AICA the task.
    .
    The MASes will fail to CONNECT, and you will

Local fix

  • Avoid cycling the CMAS while there are MASes active and
    CONNECTed directly to it. A USERMOD may also be available from
    the Change Team

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:                                         *
    * After applying PTF UI34594 for APAR PI54799, errors may *
    * occur if BAS has been used to install TRNCLDEF records in a *
    * MAS, and the CMAS that the MAS is connected to is restarted *
    * while the MAS remains active. *
    *                                                              *
    * The most common error is an abend AICA in the Topology *
    * connect task for the MAS, running under transaction TSSC. *
    * The abend will show as occurring in method EYU0XCLL (XCLL), *
    * or in a method called from XCLL. The AICA will cause the *
    * Topology connect to fail, resulting in message EYUTS0002E. *
    *                                                              *
    * If the AICA does not occur and the MAS connects *
    * successfully, TRNCLDEF entries in the BAS installed resource *
    * list for the MAS may be removed invalidly. This can result *
    * in various errors with subsequent installs of TRNCLDEFs in *
    * the MAS until it is restarted. *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    * After applying the PTF that resolves this APAR, all CMASes *
    * must be restarted. Note that the restarts do not need to *
    * occur at the same time. *
    ****************************************************************
    When a MAS connects to a CMAS, method EYU0TSRA (TSRA) is called
    in the CMAS to build Topology resource maps (CRESxxxx records)
    for most CICS resources in the MAS. When the CMAS is restarted
    while the MAS remains active, TSRA also performs normalization
    of BAS TRNCLDEF resources installed in the MAS, checking to see
    if any have been discarded in the MAS while the CMAS was down.

    The changes made in PTF UI34594 did not properly update the
    routine that performs the normalization process. If the MAS
    does not have any TRNCLDEFs installed through BAS, then this
    routine is not called and no errors will occur. However, if
    TRNCLDEFs were installed through BAS for the MAS, then the
    normalization routine will get control, and the errors described
    above may occur.

Problem conclusion

  • The TRNCLDEF normalization process routine in TSRA has been
    updated to allow for the changes made for UI34594.

Temporary fix

  • Fix available by PTF only.
