PI61766: MULTIPLE ISSUES RELATED TO RESOURCE TEMPLATES

APAR status

• Closed as duplicate of another APAR.

Error description

• 1. You can create a corrupted Resource template by using actions
  -> Define new Template followed by export/import.
  
  In 6.2.1 you are allowed to:
  
  - create a structure in the Resource tree, including an Agent
  and a Component under the Agent.
  
  - create a Resource Template from that existing piece of the
  Resource Tree, using Actions->Define new template.
  Note that the agent becomes part of the Template, while normally
  you cannot add agents to resource templates
  
  - create an Application Template and Environment Template based
  off the above Resource Template
  
  - export this Application Template
  
  - import it into another server
  
  Results:
  
  On the target server you end up having a broken Resource
  Template, which contains folders in place of Agents, and
  Components attached to those folders.
  
  If you then try to select a Resource and do: Add From Template
  
  it fails with the error:
  
  Cannot add a component at /top/X/IBM277-R90FKAU9/C because it
  does not
  have an ancestor agent.
  
  Proposed resolution:
  
  => When we create a Template from a piece of the Resource Tree
  that contains an agent, replace the Agent with an Agent
  prototype
