PI59204: INBOUND CHANNELS CONNECT MORE SLOWLY THAN PREVIOUS RELEASES

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• At MQ V8 the listener TCB does not accept new connection
  requests as quickly as at MQ V701 due to additional processing
  for CHLAUTH in ccxCheckPeerBlocked.
  This processing includes STORAGE OBTAIN/RELEASE requests by
  rsxAccessCache/rsxReleaseCache and name-server lookups
  (inet_ntop). This processing is causing the delay between the
  cciTcpListenConv exit and entry trace entries. This processing
  is unnecessary in the customer's environment as they have
  CHLAUTH set to DISABLED.

  When an inbound channel connects, additional processing is
  performed by the listener for the CHLAUTH function. This
  additional processing is performed regardless of whether
  the CHLAUTH function is DISABLED and ENABLED. The additional
  processing is unnecessary if CHLAUTH is DISABLED, and may
  introduce a delay for starting channels. When a sufficiently
  large number of channels are started at the same time, this
  delay may have a measurable impact on the overall time taken
  to start all the channels.
  

Problem conclusion

• Where a customer has disabled CHLAUTH, the additional CHLAUTH
  processing performed by the listener task when an inbound
  channel starts is bypassed, decreasing the time taken to connect
  each channel.
