Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All CICS users. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: DFHDMENS is invoked to process an ENF * * notification from the security manager. * * An 0C4 occurs while copying data from * * the ENF control block into the CICS * * address space. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** DFHDMENS is attempting to copy data from an ENF control block from the security manager (e.g. RACF). The length of data copied is based on the compile time length of the ENF2 control block, and is fixed at x30 bytes. In the reported problem, CICS is running on z/OS 1.12, and the ENF control block is a version 1 ENF2 control block, and is only x18 bytes in length. It happens that the ENF2 control block is only x18 bytes from the end of a the page. The attempt to copy x30 bytes runs over the intended data and encounters an 0C4 trying to access the next page. . This problem could also occur on z/OS 1.13, if z/OS PTF UA67929 is not applied. . Additional Keywords: S0C4 abendS0C4 IRRPENF2 ENF2 ENF71
Problem conclusion
DFHDMENS has been corrected to use the runtime length of the ENF2 data structure.
