PI53262: ON CREATE OF A NEW INDEX, LS IS TRYING TO CREATE A ALTER TABLEWITH A CONSTRAINT AND IT IS FAILING AS ATTRIBUTE NOT UNIQUE -542

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• When customer is adding an index to an item type and the index
  has multiple attributes and one of them is not unique, the
  create fails with a -542 sql code.  This happens because LS is
  required to add a Constraint given all attributes of the index
  are unique.  But if one is not, then the constraint fails.  This
  is causing a RC=8 and causing customer problems even thought the
  RC=8 could be ignored.
  

Local fix

• Ignore -542 given attribute in index can be nulls and constraint
  is not needed.
