  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • During a REORG with honor_keepdictionary YES
it doesn't decompress but it allocates
the same amount of tracks as
    honor_keepdictionary NO causing
    more DASD allocation than necessary

    ****************************************************************
A REORG KEEPDICTIONARY with ROWFORMAT BRF/RRF option was run on
a table space with a table with all fixed length columns to
convert the row format. The ZPARM HONOR_KEEPDICTIONARY was set
to YES. The REORG estimated the average row length using the
decompressed data, however the compressed record was unloaded
and sorted for this case, so the estimate for the sort work data
    set was overestimated.

A REORG KEEPDICTIONARY with ROWFORMAT BRF/RRF option was run on
a table space with a table with varying length columns to
convert the row format. The ZPARM HONOR_KEEPDICTIONARY was set
to YES. The REORG incorrectly unloaded some records
    decompressed.

Problem conclusion

  • REORG code has been modified to estimate the average row length
on the compressed data if KEEPDICTIONARY and ROWFORMAT BRF/RRF
options are specified when the ZPARM HONOR_KEEPDICTIONARY is
    set to YES.
REORG code has been modified to unload the compressed record
for the table space with a table with varying length columns for
    this case.
