  *                      statement or the body of an IF block is *
  *                      unreachable.                            *

  The purpose of reporting unreachable code is to help COBOL
  programmers find coding errors. However, Enterprise COBOL V5 has
  many optimizations that can remove code, and it's not easy to
  determine which removals come from coding errors and which come
  from the optimizer behaving as normal. Enterprise COBOL V5 was
  too conservative in this case about which removals it would
  report.
  

Problem conclusion

• The compiler was fixed to report PERFORM statements and bodies
  of IF blocks that got removed.
