Error description
DB2 hangs during STOP DB2 shutdown process. The ACOM counter for STOP DATABASE commands has incorrect values.
Local fix
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: Administrators, stopping DB2 after executing * * a combination of synchronous STOP DATABASE * * commands as batch job (or through IFI) with * * parallel execution of AUTO GRECP, dictionary * * creation or asynchronous STOP DATABASE * * commands. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The synchronous execution of the STOP * * DATABASE command (if submitted as batch * * job or via IFI) may have adjusted an * * internal counter for synchronization * * with STOP DB2 in a way that causes the * * STOP DB2 processing to wait infinitely. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: Avoid executing synchronous STOP DATABASE * * commands (via batch job or IFI) while being * * in AUTO GRECP or while executing parallel * * asynchronous STOP DATABASE commands (i.e. * * via console). * **************************************************************** A DB2 shutdown may wait until being cancelled for the counter that represents running STOP DATABASE and AUTO GRECP tasks to become zero. This counter is not maintained correctly.
Problem conclusion
This fix ensures the correct maintenance of the counter that tracks the parallel execution of AUTO GRECP and STOP DATABASE commands. A scenario, where a DB2 shutdown is waiting for this counter to become zero while actually no AUTO GRECP or STOP DATABASE tasks are running anymore, is no longer showing.
