The 5C6-00C90600 abend is occurring when EB 242D8CD0 attempts
to browse the message on pageset 4 page 4 record x16, because
page 4 only contains a single IRH9 record. The problem appears
to be due to an orphaned MTME block referencing this message -
the log buffers show that since the time in the MTME, this page
has been deallocated and subsequently reused, suggesting that
the message referred to was previously deleted (unfortunately
this occurred prior to the available trace or log buffers so I
can't verify this 100%). When this occurred the MTME for the
message should have been deleted, however this has not occurred.

The presence of the orphaned MTME causes browsing applications
to attempt to browse a queue starting from this message -
depending on how the page has been reused this can lead to the
reported error. During this incorrect browse operation, locks
are obtained on the page - this appears to be the cause of the
subsequent abend in CSQIMGE9, which occurred when the scavenger
attempted to get an exclusive lock on the same page, but was
    unexpectedly unable to do so.

    ****************************************************************
Applications browsing (MQGET with MQGMO_BROWSE_... options) and
marking messages (MQGMO_MARK_BROWSE_... options) do not unmark
messages selected as candidates for browsing when the browse
process detects that the message has been deleted by a
destructive MQGET (running in another thread) resulting in MTME
(message token mark entry) records not freed causing the
    creeping storage usage.

The abends in CSQIMGE3 and CSQIMGE9 are caused by CSQMMTIN
updating cursors in the queue with the stale data found in
    the orphaned MTME records.

Problem conclusion

  • CSQIMGE1 has been changed to unmark message token entries (MTME)
for messages deleted during the browse process before trying to
get the next message in the queue.
