*                 "||" is a user defined function.             *

* PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: ABEND0C4 RC00000011 at the location     *
*                      DSNXGRDS DSNXOOS1 OFFSET8E02 could      *
*                      happen for an SQL statement using "||"  *
*                      as an operator when "||" is a user      *
*                      defined function.                       *

* RECOMMENDATION:                                              *

An example is shown below:

CREATE FUNCTION "||" (X TIMESTAMP, Y TIMESTAMP)
RETURNS VARCHAR(52)
RETURN CHAR(X) || CHAR(Y)

SELECT CURRENT TIMESTAMP || CURRENT TIMESTAMP
FROM SYSIBM.SYSDUMMY1
;

DB2 did not correctly process the user defined function "||",
and this caused the ABEND.

Problem conclusion

  • DB2 has been modified to correctly process the user defined
function "||".
